Last Night

The headlights on my truck are going through some circuit problems so last night it would periodically go off and I'd have to work hard and getting it to come back on. I showed Kate the nicest parts of the area we're in; Newhall and Valverde. The drive out to Valverde was fun; I partly anticipated that the lights would go out as I'm driving along the rolling hills - for those of you who aren't familiar with the area, large part of this part of Santa Clarita is as yet completely uninhabited by humans. So all of a sudden everything would be pitch black as I'm driving. haha.
I came up with an idea with Kate that it would be possible to have sex whilst driving the sex as the car is speeding along completely in the dark; fueld with tequila, speed , chased with Budweiser (she new favourite American beer. haha). But since that would be kind of dangers, you park the car somewhere in the dark, do your "thing", and as that is happening along, the person underneath has their foot jammed on the accelerator (with the transmission in neutral), still fueld with tequila, speed, and beer. That is possibly one of the best ideas I've ever had in my life.

After an afternoon's fun at the Museum of Jurassic Technology, Eric, his sister (Katelyn), Christine, Joe and I end up drinking at their house. Kate and I had spent sometime at Rendez Vous earlier also. Good times.

7-1, Dodgers sweeps Rockies
Great game tonight, with a more than solid outing by Aaron Sele (Opposed by another Aaron, of the "Cook" variety). The Dodgers are now even able to pull off some great promotions - yup, when they score 10 runs or more, 10 free hot wings from Hooters.I wish I had photos from the game , but oh well. Tonight, towards the end of the game I notice a guy with a small TV ... and some girl all excited that there's a TV around. Then I realize they were watching the final episode of Ameircna Idol. Fuck that shit....

Check out FARK.com for some Photoshop fun. Every day I read the headlines there, but I especially enjoy the Photoshop competitions. Here's a link to the New Zealand themed competition.

this is awesome....

from the commodore 64 games vault - Andrew Craigie: Android (1987) Apparently back in the mid-80's there was a huge fascination with androids - i was 8 years old back in Taiwan, so i had no idea... But i finally discovered Bladerunner, so everything is fine now. And now i have this digital+analogue sound in my life. woo...
you need it too.

i took out an ad on this site for any of their readers seeking an experimental violinist/composer.
non-music rant...
what the fuck does this shit have to do with music?
if you're gonna play music then leave behind the "sexy shit" - if you're gonna be sexy then leave the violin out of it.
but i guess some people want both (have the cake and eat it too ??)

Radio Wandelweisser
This is a plug for Radio Wandelweisser, on the Wandelweisser website, where I have a composition now in circulation. (Goldsmith Variations; taking its inspiration from the music of Jerry Goldsmith and more specifically the soundtrack to the movie Chinatown) I'm certainly honoured to be listed among some great musicians and composers !

my first german review

A review of a concert of music of myself and friends Mark So and James Orsher from Petra Hedler, writing for the NRW gazette (North Rhein - Weshpalia)

Translation:
"It was very interesting for me to experience how Pisaro's students carry on with these ideas [i.e., those discussed in the previous paragraph]. They do it in a highly individual way. Johnny Chang gives the tones more space and volume and creates tender sound currents that carry one along. Mark So strongly embraces the phenomenon of the just barely audible, taking up a broad palette of sound producing devices (including glasses, stones). James Orsher lets small, filigreed tone islands appear and disappear again and again from a sea of silence."
Here's one of the pieces on that concert; Goldsmith Variations - in a version performed at calarts for 2 double basses, flute, ukele, harmonium & piano. This kind of instrumentation pretty much speaks to the variety of sounds that my friends bring to any rehearsals of highly focused yet openly creative concept pieces. (Not to forget wine glasses + H2O, pebbles on saucers
placed on snare drums, harmonicas, e-bowed e-guitar etc.etc.etc)
