Sucking up Big Country style

Glad to see you'll be moving up in the world. Maybe by the time you move to the as-yet undiscolsed location, you'll have a bigger flat and I can come stay whilst I job hunt.

By the way, you let a gay guy dress you ? I personally would draw the line at Jen and perhaps Bianca. In fact, I could provide quite a perspective - the viewpoint of someone that constantly has to be ready to be presentable in a (non-calarts) concert situation, Dodger fan and straight.

fight On.

Four days ago I found out that one week from today I have a big job interview out of town. It's a better job with twice the pay in a good location. They've already booked the flight for me. I'm not used to that kind of treatment for a graphic designer, so I'll take it as a sign that they like me. I'll have to interview with someone and present my work to a small committee, which is much more intimidating than presenting to either one person or a large group.
Yesterday I went shopping for "hip power clothes" with Jen and Matthew. It was my mini-Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. I dropped $250 on a pair of shoes and two outfits (one with a tie that I have to learn how to tie in a week). They even made me buy a shirt one size too small, because Matt says that straight guys wear clothes that are too baggy. So, I'll literally have to suck it up and wear a Medium to look hot. I can't bend my arms in certain directions, but I look good. If I don't get the job, at least I can use the clothes to pick up girls.
In addition to all of this, no one in my family knows about the job, because I don't want to have to talk about it everytime I call them. Everytime I go out with people in St. Louis I have to deal with the "When are you leaving us?" comments.
I'm a little freaked out right now.

art show ?

Tonight I performed at machine gallery. As you can tell from the website, over the weekend they had a woman talk about making moonshine in the basement, yes hidden in the secret gallery.

When I showed up for the concert tonight, I tried some of the moonshine, which caused me to sing out loud John Denver's Country Road, and explain to my kiwi flute friend (who is staying in LA becuase her flight to NYC was cancelled) my awesome roadtrip to WV over Thanksgiving, and that they sing Country Road at Mountaineer Stadium.

There.

Welcome back, Pittsnogle.

Kevin Pittsnogle led the Mountaineers to a much needed win over Georgetown and redeemed himself after his fluke performance at Pittsburgh. Last Thursday's game left me speechless, but if that loss combined with tonight's win helps WVU beat Uconn and Pitt at home, then good for them. At least last Thursday we got to see that Herber and Collins can drive, and that the bench can pick up the slack when the starters are hurting. Given Pittsnogle's performance, WVU actually played quite well against a great defense. And tonight, by following a horrible performance with a great one, Pittsnogle demonstrated that he is a seasoned athlete who will ultimately come through for the team. So, in a strange way, the loss to Pitt has cemented my confidence in WVU. It's gonna be a great couple of tournaments! Go 'Eers!

Cereal

From left to right (shortest to tallest) the 8 types of cereal in my food closet.
Grape Nuts, Berry Lucky Charms, Fruity Pebbles, Cran-Vanilla Crunch, Honey Nut Clusters, Corn Chex, Wheaties, and Cap'n Crunch's Crunch Berries.
I also have two bags of granola from Trader Joes, but they don't count.

I don't have any Sugar Coated Rice Krinkles, but I found this site as a counterpoint to the image on the cereal box.

Electric Football ? hmmmm, sounds like a game that would be fun....

I just shared a "star-struck" moment with Jessica. We went to a Thai restaurant on Sunset. A while into us sitting there, dirnking eating, she freaks out, and writes something on a piece of paper.

"Don't look, but Mike Patton is sitting on your left"

Calling from the Hills

From ESPN, rather evocative....

"A literal roll-up-your-sleeves guy on the sidelines, the unpretentious Beilein has been a comfortable fit in Morgantown, where the belt buckles are big and the boots and Carhartt jackets are not affectations. This is an unvarnished place that appreciates its unvarnished team"

Belle and Sebastian are not a couple

I'm currently on a Belle and Sebastian kick. The new CD The Life Pursuit is incredible. You can listen to a catchy song from the album here. A few days ago, I also got Push Barman to Open Old Wounds on vinyl. After downloading 40 of their songs for free I thought it was time to contribute to the cause for good music. Also, my record player is excited to be playing something more recent than Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Volume 2.

bumper sticker recognition

As I was driving up the i-5 this morning to Valenica, a guy in a Ford Mustang drove past - after turning to look at me, he swirls back to his passenger seat and yes, picks up a Terrible Towel, waving it as he sped off.

Haha.

... and all-women Mariachi Bands (listen to La Mitotera & Mira Mira)

I also like Albanians and quirky art galleries that host experimental/conceptual music shows (classes on construction, electronic music and circuitboard welding).

Wooooah - are you going Brokeback Mountain on us ? Who likes long walks on the beach ? As far as I can figure out, Miranda and I live by the beach, unless there is a beach somewhere in Missouri that I havn't heard about.

Haha.

I live somewhat by the beach but I don't really do that - well in fact I did last Monday with my ex-girlfriend. So I'm not quite sure why I say I don't like that....

it's 5.20 in the morning, and I'm sitting at the desk, that probably explains it.

Things we like

I haven't posted in awhile, because there hasn't been anything interesting to blog about. However, I did change the top the blog, so let me know if I left anything off.
