Maybe this is going too far ?

summer 05 music rotation

It's summer, and it's hot (except in the southern hemisphere.)
Inspired by Anablog, these are my five summer albums for 2005. There's some indie-pop, rock & roll, and a really good pair from two country ladies. I've also been listening to random stuff from Matisyahu, Jack Johnson, Ted Leo, Old Crow Medicine Show, Rilo Kiley and the Raveonettes (among others, as life goes in the time of mp3s). Maybe next time I'll post a blog mix tape, for now just stick with these albums.
Aberfeldy - Young Forever
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm
Andrew Bird - The Mysterious Production of Eggs
Loretta Lynn - Van Lear Rose
Lucinda Williams - Cars Wheel on a Gravel Road

Finally...

It felt like longer.

Summertime

It definitely feels like summer now. Yesterday I went swimming at Jen's house. We also ate lots of her homemade jam.
While I was there I saw a stray cat catch a baby bunny. I felt bad for the rabbit, but Ed said at least it went to a good cause and didn't just drown in the pool like its little friends.

Winning & Losing

From the moment of this photo, I am not shaving again until the LA Dodgers win a series. That would be either 2 out of 3 games, or 3 out of 4 games against one opponent.

Coal Miner Food

Inspired by Echo's post, I thought I should share some authentic WV mountain food. Pepperoni rolls are the best. They work for every meal, and are excellent companions to West Virginia football games.

It's all about the batter.

It occurred to me that we New Zealanders are dying ahead of the rest of the world anyway - nothing that this delicious package of fish n' chips would affect too much anyway. Throw in the mix a refreshing L & P (lemon and paeroa).

Being surrounded by blue makes you 91% happier

"Ah yes, there they are. My guys, takeing in a game. Gloves, and hats, and cap full of dreams."
-Vin Scully, July 14, 2005, in response to youngsters watching the game at Dodger Stadium

Cheers, Mate.

While working on Johnny's website I made this fun wallpaper. It cracks me up a little bit. The ladies should love it.

You can download it here...Enjoy!

When I was 10...

While going through my files I found all my old report cards from elementary school. My 5th grade teacher Ms. M.M. Pritchard wrote, "Bruce continues to be an excellent student. He is interested in finding out all the questions that puzzle humanity." I wonder what I did that made her write that.

Yay, America!!!

So the good ol' USA is 229. All in all it was a pretty good day. There was thunder and lightening in the early afternoon. Then, it went away. There were no hot dogs or apple pie, but I ate a BBQ burger. Drank Sam Adams beer, since he helped found the country. Some people swam. At the end of the day, we avoided the crowd at the Arch by watching the fireworks in the suburbs. We made up for the smaller show by sitting 50 yards away from fireworks. We were so close that I could feel the explosions in my chest and it hurt my eyes to watch it for awhile. Good times.
Plus, my two favorite baseball teams won three times in one day.
